Minimum Wage: NMA Distances Self From Strike Action

While the Federal Government and the Organized Labour are locked in negotiations towards arriving at an agreement for a new Minimum Wage for Workers, the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has said that the provision of healthcare services remains intact.

Benjamin Egbo, the National Secretary General of the Association, in a Statement in Abuja minced no words concerning the non-involvement of NMA, adding that doctors will remain at their duty posts to attend to clients in need of health services.

“Though, NMA is not an affiliate of the Organized labour in Nigeria, but we share the pains and hardship Nigerians are currently grappling with.

“NMA has not declared a strike action, hence, doctors will be at their duty posts to attend to patients who desire health services.”

“NMA uses this avenue to call on government as well as all stakeholders to consider the plights of average Nigerian and do everything possible to address the issues that have led to the present impasse,”Egbo solicited.
