Minister of Women Affairs Reaffirms Commitment to Chibok Girls’ Rehabilitation and Empowerment

The Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has reiterated the ministry’s dedication to the ongoing rehabilitation and empowerment of the Chibok girls.

During a recent visit to the American University of Nigeria (AUN) in Yola, Adamawa State, where 68 survivors are currently receiving rehabilitation, Sulaiman-Ibrahim praised the girls for their remarkable strength and resilience in overcoming the trauma they endured.

She also highlighted the government’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of its citizens, particularly women, children, and other vulnerable groups. The minister noted that the budget for the ministry had seen a dramatic increase nearly 1,000 percent enabling more expansive support programs for vulnerable groups.

President of the American University of Nigeria DeWayne Frazier, lauded the girls for their intelligence and perseverance, adding that they are adjusting well to their academic environment and excelling in their studies.

As part of the visit, the Ministry of Women Affairs presented the girls with educational materials and cash gifts, further demonstrating the government’s commitment to their rehabilitation and empowerment.

Sulaiman-Ibrahim emphasized that the government will continue to prioritize the welfare and development of vulnerable groups, in line with its broader mission to foster inclusive growth and social justice for all citizens.
