National Development: President Tinubu Commits To The Ideals Of Christian Pilgrim Commission
The Executive Secretary, Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission, Rev. Dr. Yakubu Pam believes Prayer is a veritable tool for national unity and peace.
Pam expressed the belief while a guest of President Bola TInubu at the State House, Abuja on Friday, 1st September , 2023.
He solicited the cooperation of the Federal Government in creating the enabling environment for pilgrimage activities to thrive in Nigeria because according to him,” prayer is what has been keeping Nigeria together”, he said.
A Statement issued by Celestine Toruka, a Deputy Director and Head, Media and Public Relations revealed that while Rev. Pam briefed Mr. President on the activities and mandate of the only apex Christian faith based Agency of government in Nigeria, the NCPC Boss intimated to him the Commission’s pilgrimage activities and programmes in Israel, Rome, Jordan and Greece.
Rev Pam also informed the President of the preparedness of his Commission to complete the 2023 Easter pilgrimage exercise to Israel and Jordan which was temporarily put on hold due to operational reasons.
Consequently, he informed President Tunubu that about 1000 intending pilgrims were on ground for the commencement of the Easter pilgrimage exercise which would hopefully kick start on September 8, 2023 with the airlift of intending pilgrims from Lagos State, and would be followed by intending pilgrims from Bayelsa, Imo, FCT as well as self sponsored pilgrims.
He cashed in on the opportunity of the visit to affirm the efficacy of using pilgrimage as a tool for national prayer retreat in the holy land.
In response, President Tinubu, while pledging his support for the Commission, acknowledged the good work Rev. Pam had been doing in NCPC, especially his efforts at repositioning the Commission by making Christian pilgrimage more spiritual and developmental.
