The National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC) and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) have announced the signing of an agreement to pilot BuyNigeria.ng, an e-commerce platform aimed at bringing Nigerian markets online.
The two organizations revealed this partnership in a joint statement signed by Dennis Olofu, Head of Media at NCAC, and Hadiza Umar, Director of Corporate Communications and Media Relations at NITDA.
According to the statement, the collaboration is designed to integrate Nigeria’s cultural and creative industries (CCI) with the nation’s growing digital and innovation ecosystems. The pilot phase will focus on markets in Kano, Lagos, Aba, and Abuja, providing greater visibility and accessibility for traders and artisans, while supporting NCAC’s goal of boosting productivity in the cultural and creative sectors.
The statement further noted that NCAC’s Director-General, Obi Asika, and his team met with NITDA’s Director-General, Kashifu Inuwa, and senior leadership at NITDA’s headquarters in Abuja to lay the foundation for the partnership.
As part of the initiative, NITDA will offer training facilities and digital labs to support the program’s success.
