The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Kano State Command, has apprehended a 75-year-old man, Nuhu Baba, during an anti-drug operation in Tumbau Village, Gezawa Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s spokesman, Sadiq Maigatari, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday.
Maigatari said the operation led to the recovery of various illicit substances, including Tramadol, Cannabis Sativa, Diazepam, Exol-5, and Rubber Solution.
“Upon investigation, Nuhu Baba confessed to the authorities that he had been engaged in this illicit trade for the past two years as a means of sustaining his livelihood,” the statement read.
He emphasised that the arrest highlighted the far-reaching impact of drug trafficking and abuse, affecting individuals across all age groups, including the elderly.
He reiterated the NDLEA’s commitment to tackling drug-related crimes while calling for increased community participation in the fight against substance abuse.
Similarly, the state commander, Abubakar Idris-Ahmad, reaffirmed the agency’s dedication to combating drug trafficking in the state, stressing the need for public cooperation.
