The Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA) has praised the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) for its recent policy reforms and operational improvements, particularly in the area of trade facilitation.
NECA President Ifeanyi Okogwu made the commendation on Monday during a courtesy visit to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, at the NCS Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja. The visit aimed to strengthen collaboration between the NCS and the private sector to enhance trade facilitation and foster private sector development.
“We are here today to commend the Service for the impactful initiatives it has introduced. NECA, established in 1957, represents over 4,000 businesses in Nigeria. We play a vital role in improving the business environment, and we recognize the Customs Service as a key partner in this journey,” Okogwu said.
He highlighted key trade facilitation tools introduced by the NCS, including the Advance Ruling, the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) programme, and the Time Release Study, which have helped reduce bureaucratic obstacles and improved the ease of doing business, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
In response, Adeniyi expressed gratitude to the NECA team for the visit and for acknowledging the NCS’s efforts.
He reaffirmed the NCS’s commitment to collaborating with the private sector to create a more inclusive and efficient trade environment.
