NEMA urges residents to take alternative routes as floods hit Alimosho LGA

The early morning rains that caused major highways to flood have prompted the National Emergency Management Authority to warn inhabitants of the Alimosho Local Government Area in Lagos State’s Command area to use alternate routes to reach their destinations.

Residents of the Command area were also cautioned against using the Command bridge because it has been submerged by the flood.

The downpour started around 2 am and 5 am in some areas and spread across the state lasted till a few minutes before 10 am on Tuesday.

The Lagos Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Authority, Ibrahim Farinloye, said this in a statement issued Tuesday morning.

He also noted that joint teams from NEMA, the Fire Service, and the Police are actively engaged in rescuing trapped individuals from the affected area.

“NEMA, Fire Service and Police are working to get trapped people out of the area presently” last year, one person was feared killed as a flood wreaked havoc at Gate House, Gold Crescent, Lagos State Development and Property Corporation Bungalow Scheme, Oke Afa, Isolo, Lagos.

The residents expressed fear over flooding that continually threatened the safety of lives and property within the estate.
