NEPAD-IPPF drives Africa’s infrastructure development, integration goals – AfDB Vice President

The NEPAD-Infrastructure Project Preparation Facility (NEPAD-IPPF), a multi-donor special fund hosted by the African Development Bank (AfDB), continues to drive Africa’s infrastructure and integration goals.

This was highlighted during the 39th Oversight Committee Meeting, which took place virtually and saw participation from over thirty institutions, including donors, partners, Regional Economic Communities (RECs), and implementing agencies.

At the event, Solomon Quaynor, AfDB’s Vice President for the Private Sector, Infrastructure, and Industrialization, emphasized NEPAD-IPPF’s crucial role in advancing the continent’s infrastructure development. He noted that the Bank’s Ten-Year Strategy (2024-2033) focuses on mobilizing funds through project preparation facilities like NEPAD-IPPF to meet the growing demand for infrastructure project preparation, particularly under the Program for Infrastructure Development in Africa Priority Action Plan 2 (PIDA PAP2).

“The NEPAD-IPPF remains at the forefront of supporting Africa’s infrastructure agenda,” Quaynor stated.

He also underscored the facility’s collaboration with the PIDA Service Delivery Mechanism (SDM) in accelerating the bankability and financial closure of regional projects, which is essential to closing Africa’s infrastructure gap.
