Niger PM meets with Organization of Islamic Cooperation over education, health

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Niger, Ali Mahamn Lamine Zeine, held a meeting with a delegation from the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) at his office on Thursday.

A statement issued by the OIC and shared with newsmen confirmed the meeting. The delegation, led by Aftab Ahmad Khokher, the Assistant Secretary-General for Science and Technology, discussed enhancing cooperation between Niger and the OIC.

The discussions focused particularly on the fields of higher education, with an emphasis on the role of the Islamic University in Niger, based in Niamey, as well as the health sector.

Ambassador Khokher conveyed greetings from the OIC Secretary-General, Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha.

He also acknowledged the role of Niger in promoting and supporting the OIC Mission and Vision.

The ambassador underlined the importance of further strengthening collaboration and cooperation amongst the OIC Member States in the fields of education, science and technology, health, water, and climate change.

He also briefed about the scholarship opportunities offered by the OIC Member States.

On his part, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of Niger’s longstanding relationship with the OIC.

He also shared his vision and future programs aimed at serving Niger’s interests, supporting its stability, and advancing its development path.
