Niger State Donates ₦250 Million to Flood Victims in Borno State

The Niger State Government has donated ₦250 million to assist flood victims in Maiduguri, Borno State.

Governor Umaru Bago led a state delegation to Maiduguri to express solidarity with the Borno government and its people, who are grappling with the aftermath of a devastating flood that has affected over two million individuals.

Describing the situation as both “devastating and worrisome,” Governor Bago called for support from all well-meaning Nigerians. He encouraged his Borno counterpart, Babagana Zulum, and the people of the state to remain resilient and place their trust in Allah. He emphasized the importance of community support in restoring normalcy to their lives and livelihoods.

Governor Bago also pledged to deploy health workers for medical assistance as needed, highlighting the commitment of the Niger State Government to aid in the recovery process.

In response, Governor Zulum expressed gratitude for the generous donation, assuring that the funds would be utilized judiciously to support flood victims. He praised the developmental initiatives of Governor Bago and noted the strengthening of relations between the two states.

The Niger State delegation, which included members of the State Executive Council, Secretary to the State Government Abubakar Usman, special advisers, local government chairmen, and the Emirs of Borgu and Kagara, offered special prayers for the deceased, healing for the injured, and blessings for the restoration of lost properties and livelihoods.

The delegation also visited the Shehu of Borno’s palace to offer condolences and seek royal blessings for the affected communities.
