Nigeria Celebrates 64th Independence Anniversary with Hopeful Messages from Leaders

The 64th Independence Anniversary of Nigeria was marked by an inter-denominational church service at the National Christian Centre in Abuja on Sunday, attended by notable figures including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and various service chiefs.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, led the government delegation and spoke of hope for the nation under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership. He expressed his vision that Nigeria would emerge as the most successful and prosperous country in Africa and beyond.

During the service, Archbishop Michael Akinwale delivered a sermon filled with optimism, articulating his dream for Nigeria to rise again as a leader in industrialization on the continent.

Akpabio echoed these sentiments, urging Nigerians to remain patient and united as the country embarks on its journey toward prosperity. He acknowledged the challenges ahead but emphasized that together, with unwavering faith, a brighter future awaits.

In Enugu, Governor Peter Mbah called for national unity and inclusive economic development during a special church service at the Government House Chapel.

He described Nigeria’s anniversary as a milestone reflecting the resilience of its people and stressed the importance of supporting the government in achieving economic goals. Fr. Wilfred Agubuchie from the Catholic Diocese of Enugu urged leaders to use their positions for the common good, reinforcing the theme of collective responsibility for Nigeria’s future.

Overall, the anniversary celebrations fostered a spirit of hope and renewal, as leaders and citizens alike reaffirmed their commitment to unity and progress in the face of ongoing challenges.
