The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has approved the promotion of 4,291 senior officers as part of a recent decision made during its 61st regular meeting, chaired by Finance Minister Wale Edun.
This move addresses vacancies left by the retirement of several management team members across the country and reflects the NCS’s commitment to inclusivity and adherence to the Federal Character Policy. In addition to the promotions, the board confirmed the appointments of one Deputy Comptroller-General and seven Assistant Comptroller-Generals.
The NCS also announced the posthumous promotion of Deputy Comptroller Etop Essien, who passed away in June 2024, in recognition of his dedicated service. Furthermore, the service is undergoing a strategic restructuring, with the Post Clearance Audit Unit now being transferred to the Comptroller-General’s Office to improve oversight and efficiency.
Adewale Adeniyi, the Comptroller-General of Customs, congratulated the newly promoted officers and encouraged them to continue their commitment to excellence, reinforcing the NCS’s focus on fostering a motivated workforce with clear career progression opportunities.
