Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has signed an updated Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASA) between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The signing took place during a high-level meeting with UAE’s Minister of Economy, Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, in Abu Dhabi, on the sidelines of the 2025 ICAO Global Implementation Support Symposium (GISS). This agreement marks a significant strengthening of the aviation relations between the two nations.
According to a statement from the Minister’s Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Tunde Moshood, the revised BASA solidifies the mutual aviation ties between Nigeria and the UAE.
A Bilateral Aviation Safety Agreement (BASA) facilitates the sharing of civil aviation certifications between two countries.
This milestone follows closely behind the UAE’s decision to lift the visa ban on Nigerians and the resumption of Emirates Airlines flights after the suspension due to challenges in repatriating trapped funds.
