The Nigerian Army has made a historic move with the appointment of Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anaele, as the new acting Director, Army Public Relations.
The appointment takes effect from April 22, 2025.
Anaele will be the first female senior military officer to be appointed as the spokesperson for the ground troops. She takes over from Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, who was appointed in June 2021.
This groundbreaking appointment marks a significant milestone as Anaele becomes the first female senior military officer to serve as the spokesperson for the ground troops.
Since the establishment of the Nigerian Army over fifty years ago, no female officer has held this position within the public relations department.
