Nigeria’s Women 4x100m Team Win Gold At African Senior Athletics Championships

At the African Senior Athletics Championship, Nigeria’s women’s 4×100-meter relay team won gold, defeating perennial rival Ghana’s silver medal squad.

With a time of 42.76 seconds, the team led by record holder Tobi Amusan won gold.

After getting sick the night before, Amusan was doubtful for the finals. Justina Eyakpobeya led off the sprint relay for Nigeria, then Tima Godbless took over.

The Gold medal was all but assured when Godbless handed the baton to Olayinka Olajide,

The 100m hurdles world record holder at 12.12 seconds only needed to switch gear to blow away the rest of the field, coasting home in 42.72 seconds to get the gold into Nigeria’s collection.

Nigeria have kept the gold-winning streak at this event since 2018
