
In a groundbreaking move, the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has unveiled plans to introduce a user-friendly self-service application, allowing Nigerians in the diaspora to seamlessly enroll for their National Identity Number (NIN).
This progressive initiative was disclosed during a strategic meeting at the office of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) Chairman/CEO, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa.
The Director-General/CEO of NIMC, Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, shared insights into the upcoming application, set to go live in February, promising a contactless and hassle-free experience for diaspora Nigerians obtaining their NINs.
Engr. Coker-Odusote highlighted that the initiative aligns with a commitment to enhance service delivery, providing an efficient system for Nigerians abroad. A dedicated Diaspora Focal Point Desk will be established at the NIMC Office to ensure swift issue resolution within 24 hours, showcasing a customer-centric approach.
Hon. Dabiri-Erewa expressed gratitude for the innovative solution, acknowledging the forward-thinking strategy of Engr. Coker-Odusote. She emphasized the system’s significance in easily linking NIN with international passports for Nigerians residing outside the country.
Engr. Coker-Odusote thanked NiDCOM for its support, expressing confidence in the success of this collaborative endeavor. The strategic collaboration represents a milestone in leveraging technology to enhance critical identity services’ accessibility for Nigerians in the Diaspora.
