The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather outlook predicting thunderstorms and rains across the country from Wednesday through Friday.
According to the forecast, thunderstorms will begin in the morning over parts of Borno, Adamawa, Taraba, Yobe, Katsina, Sokoto, and Kaduna States. By the afternoon and evening, areas including Kano, Borno, Katsina, Adamawa, Kaduna, Taraba, Zamfara, Kebbi, and Jigawa States are also expected to experience thunderstorms.
In the North Central region, thunderstorms are anticipated in the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, and Niger States during the morning hours, with continued storms expected later in the day across the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, Benue, Kogi, Niger, and Kwara States.
The southern part of Nigeria will see thunderstorms in the morning over Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Ogun, Ondo, Lagos, Edo, Delta, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom States. Intermittent rains will follow later in the day, affecting Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia, Anambra, Edo, Ekiti, Oyo, Rivers, Cross River, Delta, and Akwa Ibom States.
On Thursday, the forecast predicts thunderstorms in Taraba and Adamawa States during the morning, with further thunderstorms expected in Kano, Kaduna, Bauchi, Jigawa, Katsina, Kebbi, Adamawa, and Taraba States later in the day.
The North Central region will experience rains in Plateau and Benue States in the morning, followed by thunderstorms in the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, Kogi, Niger, Kwara, and Benue States later in the day. Southern cities will see cloudy skies in the morning and thunderstorms with intermittent rains in coastal cities later in the day.
Friday’s outlook indicates morning thunderstorms in Adamawa and Taraba States, with further thunderstorms in Taraba, Borno, Gombe, Bauchi, Adamawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, and Zamfara States by afternoon.
Rains are expected in Nasarawa and Niger States during the morning hours in the North Central region, followed by localized thunderstorms later in the day in Kogi, the Federal Capital Territory, Kwara, and Niger States. In the southern cities, cloudy skies will give way to thunderstorms and intermittent rains in inland and coastal areas, respectively.
