The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has announced a significant milestone, reaching a production level of 1.8 million barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil.
The state-owned oil giant made this revelation on Thursday, highlighting its ongoing progress toward achieving the ambitious target of 2 million barrels per day set by President Bola Tinubu for December 2024.
In addition to its crude oil achievements, NNPCL also reported a notable increase in natural gas production, now standing at 7.4 million standard cubic feet (mmscf) per day.
This improvement, up from 6.1 mmscf earlier in the year, is expected to support key infrastructure projects, particularly the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline. The increase in gas output is crucial to powering Nigeria’s energy infrastructure and ensuring energy security.
The company emphasized that this progress is a reflection of the dedication, hard work, and collaboration of all its teams, who have made consistent efforts to meet and exceed production targets.
The achievement aligns with the Nigerian government’s fiscal plans, which rely on increased oil and gas production to boost revenue and support national development. With continued efforts, NNPCL aims to further strengthen its position as a key player in both the local and global energy markets.
