No Dime Was Made From This Song By Me – Brain Jotter Reacts To Alleged Exploitation
Popular Nigerian comedian and skit maker Brain Jotter has responded to a viral post regarding the alleged exploitation of Mike Ejeagha’s 1983 hit song ‘Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo’.
Recall that the song recently received renewed attention following the trending dance challenge originated by Brain Jotter.
On Instagram, the video has been viewed 29.1 million times with over 30,000 comments, while on TikTok, it has 19.6 million views with more than 23,000 comments.
The 93-year-old Ejeagha and his song became a subject of interest, with goodwill pouring in.
Brain Jotter has now offered him N2 million.
For some, it was a generous sum. While many accused Brain Jotter of copyright infringement.
However, reacting to the accusations on Tuesday in a viral video, he said,
“For those thinking we ripped him off or making money from this whole thing, I understand your concerns and they are very valid.
“I appreciate the fact that you want him to get value for his hard work, which is very valid, and I want you to understand that you are doing something good
“At the end of the day, no dime was made from this song by me, nothing like that. The N2 million I gave him was from my personal hard earned money. I did that just for humanity and not for profit.”
