The Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Yahaya, has strongly condemned the recent attack on Mafa in Tarmuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State. The attack, carried out by gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram insurgents, resulted in the looting and burning of shops and houses.
In a press statement released on Wednesday by Director-General, Press Affairs, Gombe Government House Ismaila Misilli, Yahaya described the assault as a senseless act of violence that has inflicted significant suffering on the affected families and communities.
He praised the efforts of the security forces in combating criminal elements but stressed the need for increased vigilance and decisive action to apprehend those responsible for the attack. “This brutal act must not go unpunished. I call on security agencies to double their efforts and ensure that the perpetrators are swiftly brought to justice,” Yahaya stated.
The NSGF Chairman reaffirmed the commitment of northern governors to supporting initiatives aimed at restoring peace and security in the region. He emphasized the need for collective action to prevent such tragedies from recurring.
Yahaya extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and the government of Yobe State, offering prayers for the souls of the deceased and wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
