Nwabali Urges Super Eagles to Crush Cote d’Ivoire

Stanley Nwabali, the Super Eagles’ goalkeeper, pointed out the importance of defeating hosts Cote d’Ivoire in Group A’s marquee match.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria opened their AFCON 2023 campaign with a dismal 1-1 tie against Equatorial Guinea.

That result, along with Ivory Coast’s victory over Guinea-Bissau, means the Super Eagles must avoid a loss against the hosts to have a chance of qualifying as one of the top two sides in their group.

Speaking to reporters as the Super Eagles prepare for this crucial encounter, goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has stressed the need to defeat the hosts.

“We must win, definitely we must win. I know the next game will be tough, but we must win,” he said at a media parley in Abidjan.

The encounter against Jean Louis Gasset’s men will be held on Thursday at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium, Ebimpe, Abidjan.
