NYSC denies rejecting corps members without SLT licence in Gombe

The Gombe State Coordinator for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Chinwe Nwachuku, has refuted claims that corps members without a Science Laboratory Technology (SLT) license were barred from participating in the 2024 Batch B Stream II orientation course. In a statement made on Sunday at the Amada Akko Local Government Area temporary camp, Nwachuku described the reports as “blatant lies,” asserting that the claims were entirely unfounded.

Nwachuku emphasized that all corps members with SLT backgrounds were successfully registered at the camp, regardless of their licensing status. She urged those spreading misinformation to verify their facts before disseminating such reports. “Those carrying such stories should get their facts right before they give out such messages,” Nwachuku advised. She also extended her best wishes and prayers for the safety of all corps members.

Supporting Nwachuku’s statement, several corps members at the camp confirmed that they were admitted and registered despite not having an SLT license. Clement Daniel, a corps member from Benue State, shared that he was admitted to the orientation camp without issue. Daniel, who graduated with a Higher National Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology with a focus on Chemistry and Biochemistry from Benue State Polytechnic, noted that he encountered no delays in his registration process. He urged others to disregard the false reports circulating about the exclusion of non-licensed corps members.

Similarly, Alfred Abosede, a graduate of Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, confirmed that she was registered without a license after arriving at the camp on August 28. She stated that the absence of a license did not affect her registration process.

Raliat Adama, a graduate of Kano State Polytechnic with a background in microbiology within the Department of Science Laboratory Technology, also debunked the rumors. She affirmed that her registration proceeded smoothly despite not having an SLT license. Adama called for an end to the spread of fake news regarding the registration of corps members.
