Obasanjo Holds Closed-Door Meeting with Key Former Leaders in Minna

Elder statesman and former President Olusegun Obasanjo recently held a closed-door meeting with key figures including former Military President Ibrahim Babangida, former Head of State Abdulsalami Abubakar, and former National Security Adviser Aliyu Gusau. The meeting took place in Minna, Niger State.

Obasanjo arrived in Minna on Sunday at approximately 4:15 pm, arriving on a chartered flight from Edo State. In Edo, he had earlier attended a celebration for the Esama of Benin Kingdom, Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, in honor of his 90th birthday.

Upon reaching Minna, Obasanjo proceeded directly to Babangida’s Hilltop residence, where he joined Abdulsalami and Gusau, who were already present.

While the specifics of the discussions remain confidential, sources close to the former leaders suggest that the meeting may have been focused on addressing the increasing issues of banditry and insecurity impacting Niger State and other regions in Northern Nigeria.
