In a landmark move, Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has approved the regularization and absorption of 415 temporary health workers into the state’s pensionable workforce, marking a significant step in improving healthcare delivery in the state.
The momentous occasion took place on Friday at the Staff Development Centre in Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, where the Permanent Secretary of the Hospitals Management Board, Olayinka Elemide, expressed profound gratitude to Governor Abiodun for his unprecedented gesture. She described the regularization as “a historic event in the state,” emphasizing its far-reaching impact.
Elemide, speaking on behalf of the Hospitals Management Board and the newly regularized workers, hailed the governor’s action, saying, “This regularization is a testament to the governor’s big heart and his commitment to the well-being of the workers as a true father figure.”
The 415 health workers, many of whom have served diligently for years, were assured that their new status would bring job security, boost morale, and enhance service delivery, ultimately improving the quality of healthcare across Ogun State.
Elemide also encouraged the workers to reciprocate this generous move by demonstrating even greater dedication in their duties, aligning with the governor’s vision of providing top-tier healthcare to the people of Ogun State. “Your commitment and service excellence will be key in advancing the state’s healthcare goals,” she stated.
Representing the beneficiaries, Sanni Akanni and Geminiyi Jacob from the General Hospitals in Imeko/Afon and Atan, respectively, expressed their gratitude, pledging to increase their dedication, productivity, and commitment to the state’s healthcare system.
As part of the formal process, the newly absorbed workers had their documents verified by officers from the Bureau of Establishment and Training, ensuring full compliance with the state’s service rules and regulations, overseen by the Bureau’s Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Lydia Fajohunbo.
This milestone decision by Governor Abiodun is expected to not only secure the future of the workers but also propel Ogun State’s healthcare system toward greater efficiency and quality service delivery.
