
Al Masry of Egypt star, John Ebuka Okoye has revealed that his first goal against Smouha yesterday was a result of their training sessions, and he was thrilled to see his club secure a 3-0 victory.
The former MFM FC forward netted the final goal just 10 minutes after coming on as a substitute, helping the club earn their seventh win of the season.
Okoye told Sports Vanguard: “I’m really happy to score and contribute to the team’s victory. It’s a great feeling for both myself and the team.
“The goal came from a set piece we’ve been working on in training, and I was in the right spot to score with a header.”
He continued, “All I had to do was find the right angle, and I’m glad of the outcome”
Okoye will need to be at his best this weekend as Al Masry prepare to face Modern Sport in another Egypt Premier League home match.
The 28-year-old who joined the club from fellow Eygyptian club, Ceremica Cleopatra in February is eager to make a mark at the prestigious club.
Okoye, a former MFM FC player is a lethal goal scorer and he began to earn that reputation abroad when he turned in 121 goals in 104 games for Turkish Cypriot club Yenicami AK between 2016 – 2019.
Okoye’s new club Al Masry are currently fourth in the Egyptian league with 27 points after 16 games, nine points behind leaders Al Ahly.
He was twice named the top scorer of the Northern Cypriot League in the 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons.
