Ondo 2024: Abbas Mimiko emerges as ZLP Governorship candidate

The Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) has declared Abass Mimiko, the younger brother to a former governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko as its candidate for the November 16 governorship election in the state.

Mimiko emerged through affirmation at the primary election that held at the party’s secretariat in Akure, the state capital.

Addressing party members after his emergence, Mimiko said, “We are forced to be reckoned with in this election. We will ensure food security, within a year of our being in the office, we will have a surplus of food in Ondo State.

We will ensure affordable quality education, industrialization, housing, free health services for all residents are part of our programmes”, he said.

On whether his brother, former Governor Mimiko supported his ambition, as both of them were in different political parties, Abbas informed that his brother had thrown his weight behind him in his quest to become the next governor of the state.

Mimiko said, ”Former governor Mimiko said he was not doubt if Abass becomes the governor of the state, everyone will enjoy it. I am coming out because he knows I would build on his achievements,” he declared.

The medical doctor turned politician pledged to focus more on education, health, economy and security, if elected as the next governor of Ondo State.
