Newly elected Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, alongside his Deputy, Olayide Adelami, formally presented their certificates of election to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday.
The presentation was witnessed by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, and Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, as confirmed by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy.
Earlier, last week, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) issued the official certificates of return to Governor-elect Aiyedatiwa and his deputy. The ceremony, held at INEC’s headquarters in Abuja, was attended by notable figures, including the APC national chairman, party members from Ondo State, and other political dignitaries.
INEC hailed the recent Ondo State governorship election as a true reflection of the will of the people, underscoring the credibility and transparency of the process.
Aiyedatiwa triumphed in the Ondo State governorship election, defeating his closest rival, Agboola Ajayi, who contested under the banner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The APC candidate secured a decisive victory, garnering 366,781 votes, more than three times the votes of Ajayi, who polled 117,845 votes.
The victory solidifies Aiyedatiwa’s position as the next governor of Ondo State, and the formal presentation of his election certificate marks a key milestone in the electoral process.
