Ondo: SDP guber candidate casts vote, states expectations

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate in Ondo State, Otunba Bamidele Akingboye, has expressed his expectation for a credible and transparent election in the ongoing governorship poll.

Speaking after casting his vote at exactly 9:00 a.m. on Saturday at Unit 10, Ward 2, Okitipupa, Akingboye called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and all relevant stakeholders to ensure the election process remains free and fair.

Akingboye stated that if the election process is credible, he would accept the results, even if he does not emerge as the winner. “I am optimistic that I will win because my mission is to deliver my people from hunger and poverty. This is one of the primary reasons I worked so hard to secure the SDP ticket,” he said.

The governorship candidate also commended INEC for its punctuality at the polling unit, as well as its commitment to the electoral process, noting the effective deployment of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS). He praised the security agencies for their efforts in enhancing security at polling units to ensure the safety of both INEC staff and voters.

Akingboye also expressed satisfaction with the turnout of voters, encouraging others to come out and exercise their right to vote.

He expressed confidence that more people would continue to participate in the election throughout the day.
