Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have successfully neutralized several notorious terrorist commanders and dismantled over 40 hideouts in Zamfara and Sokoto states, significantly weakening criminal networks operating in the region. The military offensive, conducted between February 1 and 10, 2025, targeted key terrorist enclaves in the Shinkafi and Zurmi Local Government Areas of Zamfara and the Isa LGA of Sokoto State.
Lt. Col. Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre, confirmed that prominent terrorist leaders, including Kachalla Na Faransa, Dogon Bakkwalo, Auta Gobaje, and Dan Mai Dutsi, were among those killed in the operations. The military forces also destroyed over 40 hideouts, including those in Tungar Fulani, Unguwar Goga, Gangara Hill, and Gidan Maji.
In addition to the successful elimination of these terrorists, Operation Fansan Yamma led to the recovery of a substantial cache of arms and ammunition, further reducing the potential for future attacks on civilians. The military also rescued dozens of kidnapped victims, bringing much-needed relief to families affected by the violent activities of the terrorists.
The military reiterated its commitment to continuing the fight against terrorism, particularly in the North-West and parts of Niger State, and urged the public to provide intelligence on fleeing terrorists, including the notorious Bello Turji and his associates.
Abdullahi emphasized that the success of this operation has dealt a significant blow to terrorist activities, strengthening the ongoing efforts to restore peace and security to northwest Nigeria.
