Oshiomhole Remains My Father – Edo Dep Gov Philip Shaibu

The Deputy Governor of Edo state, Philip Shaibu says Senator Adams Oshiomhole remains his father.

He, however, admitted that there are political differences.

“Oshiomhole remains my father, but we have political differences” the deputy Governor said this on televised interview.

Shaibu made the admission as he officially began the hunt to become the gubernatorial candidate of his political party, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2024 Edo Governorship election- against the wishes of Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Shaibu (a longtime protege of their principal) and Obaseki joined hands to wrestle political power from their godfather, Oshiomhole.

The face-off between the duo and Oshiomhole made them leave the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the PDP to win re-election in 2020.

Shaibu’s gubernatorial ambition has, however, caused a bitter quarrel between them.

Things have gone bad to such an extent that Obaseki has forced Shuaibu to relocate his office as the Deputy Governor and allegedly stopped his monthly allocation among other measures to frustrate him.

Shaibu was forced to resort to a court order to prevent an impeachment and an open apology to secure a bit of respite.

“The kind of intimidation and harassment that I have received, only God that is seeing me through” he provided an insight into his ordeal during today’s appearance on Journalists Hangout.

But in the face of all, he insists “I am confident. I am the candidate to beat. I will be on the ballot.”

He shied away from questions concerning possible defection to APC should Obaseki go all-out to stop him from becoming the gubernatorial candidate of the PDP.
