Osimhen deal difficult for United

Manchester United’s pursuit of Victor Osimhen appears to be facing significant financial hurdles, according to transfer expert Ben Jacobs. Despite the Red Devils’ ongoing struggles both on and off the pitch—currently sitting 14th in the Premier League and dealing with managerial changes—Osimhen has emerged as a potential solution to their forward-line woes.

Osimhen, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray after a summer transfer saga with Napoli, has continued his strong form, scoring 22 goals in 27 appearances. This has sparked further interest from top clubs, including Manchester United. However, Jacobs believes the deal could be out of reach financially for United.

“The financial difficulties Manchester United is facing right now could make it irrelevant whether Osimhen is open to a move,” Jacobs said. He pointed to several key financial barriers, including the club’s position regarding Profitability and Sustainability Regulations, the potential absence of European football next season, and the decreased broadcast revenue from not qualifying for the Champions League.

While Manchester United may still be interested in Osimhen, the financial constraints, along with other uncertainties surrounding the club’s future, could make a move difficult. There have been reports suggesting possible swap deals, including one involving Rasmus Hojlund, but Napoli—who hold Osimhen’s contract until 2026, with an option to extend it to 2027—are reportedly evaluating several options for the striker’s future.

For Manchester United, the financial reality of signing Osimhen might force them to explore alternative targets or delay their pursuit until their financial situation improves.
