Victor Osimhen will not play for Nigeria in their upcoming friendly against the Black Stars of Ghana and the Eagles of Mali.
Osimhen did not play in Sunday’s 1-1 tie between Napoli and Serie A leaders Inter Milan.
In the days leading up to the match, the striker hardly trained at all.
After the match, interim manager Francesco Calzona stated that the cause was an inflammation of the scar from a previous injury.
Since his name does not appear on the list of players Napoli released for international service, the 25-year-old has not yet fully recovered from the injury.
The forward now have to continue his recovery at the Castel Volturno for at least two weeks to regain his full fitness.
The Super Eagles will take on Ghana at the Grand de Stade Marrakech on Friday, March 22.
The three-time African champions will face Mali four days later at the same venue.
