Over 500 Women Graduate from Katsina Skills Acquisition Centre

Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to empowering young women to enable them to become productive members of society.

Radda spoke Sunday evening at the graduation ceremony of 500 young women from the Skills Acquisition Center of the Department of Girl Child Education and Child Development.

The young women who received training across vocational fields were 141 in tailoring, 114 in leather works, 53 in catering, 27 in computer skills, 90 in cosmetology, and 76 in knitting.

Radda said young women played an important role in the future of any society, and that the training acquired by the beneficiaries would enable them to become equipped to play such key roles.

He added that the program’s success reflects his administration’s dedication to citizen welfare and economic development.

“Today’s achievements are not merely about certificates and skills; they symbolize the fulfillment of our promise to the young women of our state- that every dream is valid, every aspiration attainable, and every skill acquired is a stepping stone towards a brighter future,” he said.

He said the Skills Acquisition Centre represents the beginning of his administration’s initiatives to create opportunities for education, empowerment, and progress for more people across the state.

He called on the graduates to utilise their newly acquired skills as instruments of change, encouraging them to pursue their dreams courageously and serve as inspiration for others.

He also acknowledged the crucial role of parents, guardians, and well-wishers in supporting the graduates throughout their educational journey, even as he commended the Department of Girl Child Education and Child Development for their commitment to excellence in implementing the programme.

The Special Adviser, Department of Girl Child Education and Child Development, Jamila Mani said centre had expanded its curriculum to include advanced technology training, with over 100 trainees currently enrolled in robotics courses.

Mani said the students had demonstrated remarkable achievements, developing innovative solutions such as automated irrigation systems that detect soil moisture levels and adjust water flow.

“They have also created traffic light systems and designed self-driving car prototypes with accident detection capabilities,” she added.
