Oyo State Government Shuts Down Six Illegal Health Facilities

 

 

The Oyo State Government has taken decisive action against quackery in the healthcare sector by shutting down six health facilities found guilty of engaging in illicit practices.

This development was disclosed in a statement released to journalists on Thursday, highlighting the government’s commitment to safeguarding the health and well-being of residents.

 

The affected facilities, including New Jobi Memorial Hospital, Omolara Clinic and Maternity Home, Amazing Grace Medical Clinic, Emiloju Clinic and Maternity Centre, Safeway Clinic, and Emilagba Clinic and Maternity Centre, were sealed off due to various offenses, including the recruitment of unqualified personnel and other illegal activities.

 

Chairman of the State Antiquackery Task Force Committee, Dr. Adekunle Aremu, reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance stance on quackery, emphasizing that those found guilty would face prosecution to the fullest extent of the law.

He underscored the importance of seeking medical services from accredited and registered health facilities staffed by qualified personnel.

Dr. Aremu emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to upholding rigorous standards in healthcare delivery, ensuring that citizens receive services that meet the highest benchmarks for quality and safety.

He urged residents to prioritize their health by accessing care from reputable establishments recognized by the government.

This crackdown follows the earlier sealing off of two private hospitals in Oyo town, Wise and Pearl Hospital Limited, Akeetan-Tuntun, and Living Stone Clinic and Maternity, Idi-Ose, Alaafin High School.

The government’s swift action underscores its determination to eradicate quackery and uphold the integrity of the healthcare system in Oyo State.
