Passport Applications: New CGIS Wades In To Ensure Expedited Services

The Nigeria Immigration Service now has a new Boss in the person of Caroline Wuruola Adepoju.

Caroline took the reins of leadership from Isah Jere, the immediate past Comptroller General of the Service whom she lauded in superlative terms.

According to a Statement by the Comptroller, Media and Publicity, Tony Akuneme, until her recent appointment as the Acting Comptroller General of the Agency, Mrs Adepoju had served in the capacity of a Deputy Comptroller General in charge of Finance,.

Add to this were other high flying positions she held in the NIS at various locations during her career.

Addressing top management of the NIS soon after assumption of office, the new Ag CGIS directed all the passport offices nationwide to take necessary steps to ensure no Nigerian is subjected to any unnecessary delays or substandard treatments in the course of applying for passports.

Mrs Adepoju went on to say that she will focus majorly on Passport issues and staff welfare as those two aspects contributed mostly to the complaints of Nigerians and NIS personnel.

She announced that a stakeholders meeting will be convened in the next few days to x-ray the real issues in passport process and to proffer far reaching solutions, which will include opening more front offices in the lagos area where bulk of the complaints emanated from.

The Ag CGIS equally said she will adopt a buttom top approach in tackling officers welfare and will start by meeting all cadres of staff to hear their genuine needs in a bid to hit the ground running with a blue print that will be based on an all inclusive needs assessment.
