The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has established a committee to address the ongoing dispute regarding the position of National Secretary. Both Samuel Anyanwu and Udeh Okoye are claiming the position, and the matter is currently in court.
The situation escalated on Wednesday when supporters of both parties clashed at the PDP secretariat during a BoT meeting. In response, the PDP BoT Chairman, Adulphus Wabara, issued a statement following the meeting, announcing that the committee will be headed by Barrister Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN. The committee has been tasked with engaging with the involved parties, examining the situation, and providing a report to the BoT for further action.
Wabara also shared that the Acting Chairman of the PDP, Umar Damagum, assured the BoT that the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting would proceed as planned in February 2025. This meeting is expected to address key issues and reaffirm the party’s commitment to unity, discipline, and the shared values that bind PDP members together.
The BoT meeting was presided over by Chairman Adulphus Wabara and attended by notable party figures, including Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum, former Niger Governor Babangida Aliyu, former Kaduna Governor Ahmed Markafi, and former Jigawa Governor Sule Lamido.
