PDP NWC Faction Retaliates, Suspends National Chairman, Damagum, Secretary

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC), led by Acting National Chairman Illiya Damagum has announced the suspension of National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba and National Legal Adviser Kamaldeen Ajibade over allegations of disloyalty and insubordination.

In a statement released on October 10, 2024, the NWC detailed that Ologunagba and Ajibade were directed to step aside, pending an investigation into the allegations.

A committee chaired by Deputy National Chairman (South) Taofeek Arapaja was established to probe the issues.

In the interim, their deputies Ibrahim Abdullahi Manga and Okechukwu Osuoha were appointed as Acting National Publicity Secretary and Acting National Legal Adviser, respectively.

The NWC urged party leaders, stakeholders, and members to remain focused on the party’s goals during this tumultuous period. However, the situation took a dramatic turn when Ologunagba issued a statement announcing the suspension of both Damagum and National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu.

In his statement, Ologunagba cited complaints against Damagum and Anyanwu, particularly regarding their involvement in a legal matter related to 27 former members of the Rivers State House of Assembly who had vacated their seats after defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The NWC condemned their actions as “anti-party” and in violation of the PDP Constitution and their oaths of office.

Consequently, the NWC suspended Damagum and Anyanwu from all meetings and activities of the party and referred them to the National Disciplinary Committee for further action.
