PDP Officially Affirms Sunday Ude-Okoye as Legitimate National Secretary Following Court Ruling

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has formally recognized Sunday Ude-Okoye as the party’s authentic National Secretary, in compliance with a recent ruling by the Court of Appeal.

This announcement was made on Tuesday by the party’s spokesperson, Debo Ologunagba, during a press briefing at the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja. Ologunagba confirmed that the party had received the judgment from the Court of Appeal, which upheld Ude-Okoye’s position as the rightful National Secretary of the PDP.

The PDP spokesman elaborated on the background of the case, emphasizing that after careful consultations with the party’s legal team, it was confirmed that the Court of Appeal had issued a verdict on December 24, 2024, affirming Ude-Okoye as the legitimate holder of the office. He reiterated the PDP’s commitment to adhering to the rule of law, stressing that the party was bound by the court’s highest ruling on the matter.

Ologunagba further noted that the ruling effectively resolved the dispute between Ude-Okoye and Senator Samuel Anyanwu, who had previously claimed the position of National Secretary. Ude-Okoye had earlier declared himself the PDP National Secretary following the judgment, citing the Court of Appeal’s decision.

The ruling, issued by the Enugu Division of the Court of Appeal on December 20, 2024, also reaffirmed Ude-Okoye’s nomination as the replacement for Anyanwu, in line with a previous decision by the Enugu High Court.

With this development, the leadership of the PDP has moved to put to rest the longstanding contention over the National Secretary position, with Ude-Okoye now officially recognized as the party’s rightful holder of the office.
