Plateau gov sacks 17 transition LG chairmen

Governor of Plateau State Caleb Mutfwang has officially dissolved the Local Government Transition Implementation Committees (TICs) across the state’s 17 local government areas.

The announcement was made in a statement on Saturday by the Director of Press and Public Affairs Gyang Bere.

In his directive, Governor Mutfwang has instructed the Directors of Personnel Management to oversee the administration of the council areas until elections are conducted on October 9, 2024. This move follows the previous dissolution of elected local government officials by Mutfwang.

The governor took the opportunity to commend the TIC chairpersons for their exemplary leadership and dedication. He acknowledged their significant contributions to community development projects and expressed satisfaction with their performance.

Mutfwang encouraged the outgoing chairpersons to continue providing valuable advice to foster peace and unity within both the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the state of Plateau.

The governor also urged the TIC chairpersons to work closely with their constituents to ensure the party’s success in the upcoming local government elections.

He reiterated his commitment to maintaining an inclusive, transparent, and accountable government that prioritizes the interests of all Plateau residents.

The transition committees were initially established in June 2023, following the dissolution of previously elected local government officials by Governor Mutfwang.
