Poland introduces new IT system to combat visa appointment fraud

Poland is rolling out a new IT system aimed at preventing fraud in the visa appointment process. The system is designed to stop intermediaries from booking and reselling visa slots at inflated prices, which has been a growing issue for applicants.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the development of the system, although no official launch date has been announced. It is expected to be introduced later this year.
According to reports, the new system will tackle the problem of intermediaries exploiting the current setup by securing visa appointments and reselling them at higher rates, causing frustration among genuine applicants. The goal of the new system is to ensure that visa slots are accessible to legitimate applicants.
Under the updated system, applicants will be required to verify their identity before booking an appointment, which will help prevent unauthorized individuals from taking slots meant for others. In addition to identity verification, the system is expected to introduce electronic verification services, potentially including biometric screenings such as fingerprint or facial recognition.
These changes are designed to make the process more secure and transparent, ensuring applicants are well-informed and prepared for any new procedures when booking their visa appointments.
