Police Arrest Two Suspected Burglars in Akwa Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with a recent burglary and recovered stolen items worth millions of naira. The arrest was announced in a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Timfon John, in Uyo.

According to John, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, the suspects, Moses Godwill Ndiong and Abraham Udo, were apprehended on Monday, January 20, 2025, following credible information from a concerned citizen about a burglary at the home of a man (name withheld) in Okpokpong, Eket Local Government Area.

“On January 20, 2025, at approximately 0400 hours, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command successfully apprehended two suspects, Moses Godwill Ndiong and Abraham Udo, in connection with a recent burglary,” the statement read.

John further explained that upon receiving the tip-off, Commissioner of Police Baba Mohammed Azare immediately dispatched a team of officers to the scene. Their swift response led to the suspects’ arrest, during which they confessed to the crime.

The recovered items included: a cutter and pliers used in the burglary, a 65” LG Smart TV, a 2900 SUMEC Generator, a 42” LG LED TV, a 32” LG LED TV, a Sony Home Theatre System, a Toyota Camry car (registration number KY984EKY), six pairs of shoes, and electrical cables.

While investigations continue, the PPRO praised the vigilant citizen whose timely tip-off was instrumental in the suspects’ capture. He also urged other residents to stay alert and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies promptly.
