Police Nab Two over Alleged Murder, Fraud in Adamawa

The Nigerian Police, Adamawa Command, has arrested two men over alleged murder and fraud.

The command’s spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed their arrest in a statement issued in Yola on Friday.

Nguroje stated that Emmanuel Shehu and Almond Shehu, two inhabitants of Bori village in Koma District of Jada Local Government Area (LGA) of the state, were reportedly shot and killed by one of the suspects, a 31-year-old Mali Bori.

“The suspect had a dispute with the victims over a farm located at Bori in Jada LGA, which resulted in a fight.

“He shot the victims during the altercation with his Dane gun, resulting in their tragic deaths,” he said.

According to Nguroje, investigations are ongoing to get more information on the matter.

The spokesperson disclosed that Aliyu Yakubu, 36, a resident of Jalingo Daddawa village in Hong LGA, was the other suspect and was being apprehended for allegedly killing one Bassey Isah and committing fraud.

On June 13, he said, the suspect tricked and dishonestly stole three sacks of maize from the victim under the false pretext that he would print and manufacture Naira notes for him

“The suspect further demanded and received from the victim a Toyota Starlet car, a motorcycle, and a tricycle, promising to make him rich overnight.

“The suspect then led the victim into a forest, where he buried him after severely beating him with an iron rod.”

According to Nguroje, the suspect offered a confessional statement in response to the accusations, and he would face charges of culpable homicide. (NANO)
