Police Service Commission Promotes Over 8,000 Senior Police Officers

The Police Service Commission (PSC) on Wednesday announced the promotion of 8,053 senior police officers, following a series of evaluations and assessments. The promotions include various ranks across the police hierarchy, aimed at rewarding performance and enhancing the operational capabilities of the force.

On Monday, 11 Commissioners of Police (CP) were elevated to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIG), while 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCP) were promoted to the substantive rank of CP.

On Tuesday, 21 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP) were promoted to DCP, while 57 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSP) were promoted to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP).

The most significant portion of the promotion involved 1,348 Superintendents of Police (SP), who were elevated to the rank of Chief Superintendents of Police (CSP). Additionally, 876 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP) were promoted to Superintendents (SP), and 5,829 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP) were moved up to the rank of DSP.

Among those promoted were notable officers such as Anjuguri Manzah, DCO at Onne Port Division; Ihunwo Josephine, Zonal Public Relations Officer Zone 13 Ukpo; Matilda Ngbaronye, former Public Information Officer for the African Union Mission in Somalia; and others like Ajaka Chinedu, Admin Officer at 44 PMF, and Felix Ekpoudom, O/C Quick Intervention Unit, Akwa Ibom State. These promotions reflect the commission’s commitment to recognizing and advancing officers based on their achievements and contributions to law enforcement.

The commission’s spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, emphasized that the promotions are part of ongoing efforts to improve the police service, foster efficiency, and motivate officers across all ranks.
