President Bola Tinubu will deliver a national broadcast at 7 am on Wednesday to commemorate Democracy Day. This announcement was made by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja.
The statement urged television, radio, and other electronic media outlets to connect to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) to broadcast the address.
The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, June 12, 2024, a public holiday in honor of Democracy Day. Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made this declaration on behalf of the government, congratulating Nigerians on the occasion.
Tunji-Ojo encouraged Nigerians to uphold the principles of democratic governance and reflect on the efforts of the nation’s founding fathers in ensuring Nigeria remains a united, secure, peaceful, and indivisible entity. He called on Nigerians and friends of Nigeria to recognize the progress made and look forward to a brighter future for the country’s democracy.
The minister also reiterated President Tinubu’s commitment to implementing positive reforms aimed at reviving the nation’s economy and enhancing security. He extended his best wishes to all Nigerians for a Happy Democracy Day celebration.
