President Bola Tinubu to Attend African Union Summit in Ethiopia

President Bola Tinubu is set to depart Abuja on Thursday for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to participate in the 37th ordinary session of the assembly of the African Union (AU) heads of state and government.

This announcement was made in a statement released on Wednesday by Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.

During the summit, President Tinubu will engage in high-level discussions focusing on various critical issues, including institutional reforms of the African Union, peace and security, and climate change

The theme of this year’s summit, “Educate an African fit for the 21st Century,” underscores the importance of building resilient education systems to enhance access to quality and relevant learning across the continent.

In addition to participating in AU deliberations, President Tinubu will attend an extraordinary summit of the authority of heads of state and government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in his capacity as the chairman of the regional body.

President Tinubu will be accompanied by several ministers and top government officials on the trip.

After the conclusion of the summit, he is expected to return to Abuja, having contributed to discussions and initiatives aimed at advancing the collective interests and priorities of the African continent.
