President Tinubu Appoints Shamsedeen Ogunjimi as New Accountant General of the Federation

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Shamsedeen Ogunjimi as the new Accountant General of the Federation following a thorough and competitive selection process.

The appointment, approved on Tuesday, will take effect on March 7, 2025, the same day the incumbent, Oluwatoyin Madehin, will retire.

According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Ogunjimi was selected through a merit-based process that involved a written assessment, ICT proficiency test, and oral interviews, conducted by a selection committee made up of Directors of Accounts in the Federal Civil Service.

The process reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to transparency, excellence, and competence in public service appointments.

Ogunjimi, 57, is a graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy in 1990. He also holds a Master’s in Accounting and Finance from the University of Lagos. He is a fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.

In his congratulatory message, President Tinubu urged Ogunjimi to carry out his duties with integrity, professionalism, and dedication to the service of the country.
