President Bola Tinubu, accompanied by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, arrived in Paris on Wednesday evening for a three-day State Visit aimed at fortifying bilateral ties between Nigeria and France.
The Nigerian delegation touched down at Orly Airport at 5:10 p.m., where they were met with full military honours by the French Republican Guard, marking the ceremonial start of the visit.
The official engagements will commence on Thursday with a reception at the historic Les Invalides, where President Tinubu will be welcomed by French President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron. This will be followed by a distinguished reception at the Palais de l’Élysée in honour of the Nigerian leader.
The visit, which is expected to bring significant benefits to Nigeria, will focus on strengthening ties in key sectors such as agriculture, security, education, health, youth engagement, innovation, and energy transition. Both leaders will discuss initiatives aimed at promoting youth exchange programs and improving skills in automation, entrepreneurship, and leadership.
Further diplomatic discussions will cover shared values on finance, trade and investment, solid minerals, and communication. In addition, President Tinubu and President Macron will engage in a session with the France-Nigeria Business Council to encourage private sector involvement in Nigeria’s economic development.
First Ladies Brigitte Macron and Oluremi Tinubu will also hold talks on empowering women, children, and vulnerable groups through the Renewed Hope Initiative, an initiative led by Nigeria’s First Lady.
Before departing Paris, President Tinubu and his wife will attend a state dinner hosted by President Macron, concluding the official visit.
