President Bola Tinubu has returned to Abuja after attending the Africa Heads of State Energy Summit in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The summit, which took place from January 27 to 28, focused on ways to accelerate energy access across the continent.
Tinubu departed Nigeria on Sunday for the event, which was hosted by the Tanzanian government in partnership with the African Development Bank Group and the World Bank. During the summit, African leaders, private sector representatives, development partners, and civil society groups gathered to discuss strategies for improving energy access throughout Africa.
The president’s spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, had earlier highlighted that the summit would address key issues related to energy development in Africa. At the event, President Tinubu reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to achieving universal energy access and solidifying its leadership role in Africa’s energy sector.
In a significant moment during the summit, President Tinubu, alongside other heads of state, endorsed the Dar es Salaam Energy Declaration, which outlines a comprehensive roadmap for Africa’s energy development.
The president arrived at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Tuesday night, where he was warmly welcomed by senior government officials, including Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President; Nuhu Ribadu, National Security Adviser; and Bello Matawale, Minister of State for Defense.
