The Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) has launched the distribution of 1,000 conversion kits across various states to mitigate the impact of the recent fuel subsidy removal.

At a news conference in Abuja, the Programme Director for the initiative Michael Oluwagbemi announced that the distribution of these kits aims to significantly lower transportation costs. He explained that the initiative is expected to create over 100,000 direct jobs over the next three years, with a target to convert approximately three million vehicles within this timeframe.

Oluwagbemi highlighted that the conversion of commercial transport operators will be conducted free of charge. This effort is intended to ease the transition and reduce transportation expenses, helping to offset the effects of the subsidy removal.

Speaking at their warehouse in Ibafo, Ogun State, Onate disclosed that the distribution is being managed under a “First Come, First Serve” system. To date, 450 kits have been allocated to various states, with another 550 kits ready for distribution.
