President Bola Tinubu has emphasized the importance of establishing direct flights between Nigeria and Brazil during a meeting with the newly appointed Brazilian ambassador to Nigeria, Carlos Areias.
Tinubu revealed this in Abuja on Thursday after receiving the letter of credence from the Brazilian ambassador.
This discussion comes as part of Nigeria’s broader effort to enhance bilateral relations with Brazil. Tinubu noted that he had previously raised this issue with President Lula da Silva of Brazil during the African Union Summit in Addis Ababa earlier this year.
In addition, President Tinubu welcomed Brazil’s upcoming presidency of the G20 in 2024 and reiterated Nigeria’s readiness to collaborate closely with Brazil to advance mutual interests.
During the event, President Tinubu also received the letter of credence from Ghana’s new high commissioner to Nigeria, retired Vice-Admiral Seth Amoama. He commended Ghana’s active role in ECOWAS and reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening ties with Ghana, highlighting the importance of West African unity and cooperation.
